Week 19

Baby is the size of a mango!

Vernix caseosa, a greasy white substance made of lanugo, oil and dead skin cells (yum) now coats baby’s skin, shielding it from the amniotic fluid. (Picture yourself after a nine-month bath, and the need for protection makes sense.) You might actually get to see the vernix at birth, especially if baby is premature.

We find out the sex of the baby on Friday. We are soooooo beyond excited. I have thought since the beginning that it is a boy. Collin thinks girl. I put a facebook poll up and the overwhelming majority of people said BOY. I’m carrying pretty low so that seems to fall in the old wives’ tale of boy as well.
